Reforestation

If you cannot participate in these activities as scheduled, you can be a good steward of your own land, even a tiny back yard. You can:

  • Pick up after your pets, because your pet waste impacts water quality.
  • Landscape with Native Plant species to save water.
  • Don’t plant non-native invasive plants because they can spread into the native habitat.
  • Use compost and organic soil amendments to eliminate the need for chemicals.
  • Practice water conservation at every opportunity. Use less water from your tap, and use sources such as rainwater for watering your house plants!
  • Wash your car on a permeable surface to prevent soap and hydrocarbons from ending up in the storm drain.
  • Eliminate the use of pesticides because they can impact aquatic and non-aquatic organisms as well as contaminate drinking water supplies.
  • Keep septic systems operating correctly and inspected annually to prevent them from contaminating groundwater.
  • Teach your children to be stewards of the land.
